WHO can we help?

People from all sorts of backgrounds may find themselves unable to feed their families through no fault of their own.

In the current economic climate any one of us could experience unexpected unemployment, redundancy or bankruptcy. At any time families or individuals could be thrown into emotional and financial crisis due to bereavement, sudden illness or a marriage/relationship breakdown. Situations can arise such as delayed benefit or an unexpected bill. When there is no financial safety net these situations can quickly deteriorate and this is where Foodbank aims to help.

Local Care Professionals, Health Visitors, Social Workers and Registered Agencies such as the Job Centre, Citizens Advice Bureau, etc, will be issued with Food Vouchers. These will be issued to people who are experiencing real, immediate financial crisis.

FOODBANK VOUCHERS

If you are awarded a voucher you will need to take it to the Foodbank Centre, where you will be given a warm welcome, a hot drink and in exchange for your Voucher a 3 day food supply packed in supermarket carrier bags. We may also be able to offer you additional information and support if you need it, or put you in touch with other organisations that may be able to provide you with further help and assistance.

Unfortunately we will not be able to issue food bags without a voucher. These can only be issued by the organisations and individuals listed above. If you are unsure who can help you please e-mail us at admin@slfoodbank.org.
